Just like most of the greats, Audra's love and push for music came from what she knew best—her family. Raised by her single mother and grandmother in Richmond, Virginia, music was a great inspiration to Audra, especially jazz. Listening to her grandmother spin Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald made singing a top priority for Audra. In fact, Brandy's self-titled debut album was Audra's first CD at the tender age of six, and it fixed her attention on having a singing career. But it wasn't until curiosity struck a 13-year-old Audra that she was spurred to branch out into other ways of expressing herself. With the support of her mother and three years of hard work later, the then 16-year old performed at her very first show as Audra The Rapper. Through her relentless work ethic, Audra has cemented her buzz in the music industry. In October 2010, after performing at a university homecoming concert, Audra was co-signed and endorsed by one of the industry's hottest rappers, Rick Ross. In December 2010 Ross welcomed Audra The Rapper to the Maybach Music Group family.
